The property was known as the "Rogers' property", and it had been in the Rogers family for decades. The executrix of the trust that held the property, and the developer, generously worked with the Pond Village neighborhood and conservation organizations to place the land into conservation.
The meadow is called a Twine Field because it was used to tar and to repair fishing nets. There is no Upland Meadow of this size in Provincetown or Wellfleet. The Twine Field on this property is the only one in Truro.
The town of Chatham similarly realized the unique value of preserving these meadows and Twine fields, and they recently purchased the South Chatham Twine Field with a mixture of Trust, town and private donations. See https://www.facebook.com/twinefield
